Overview
WG21.org is committed to transparency. The C++ Alliance, Inc. ("C++ Alliance," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit WG21.org (the "Site"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. WG21.org is operated by the C++ Alliance as a volunteer community resource. We do not sell your data.
Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of data:
- Account Information (Direct Collection): When you log in via Google or GitHub, we collect your unique User ID, display name, and email address associated with that provider.
- Activity Data (Automatic Collection): We log standard web traffic data, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring pages, and pages visited on our Site ("Usage Data").
- Cookies & Tokens: We use essential cookies and login session tokens to authenticate users and keep them logged in. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes unless you explicitly consent.
- PRAGMA Ballot Data: When you participate in non-binding ballots, we record your vote selection.
PRAGMA Ballot Data
Ballot responses submitted through PRAGMA are aggregated and shared with WG21 as anonymized preference data. Individual votes are not attributed to specific users in any report shared with the committee at this time. Aggregate results may be published publicly on this Site. Users will be notified of any changes to anonymity.
Cookies & Tracking
We use only essential session cookies required for authentication and site use. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Analytics, if used, are privacy-respecting (no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking). You may disable cookies in your browser, but some Site features require them.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Operate and improve the Site
- Authenticate your account or identity (Google/GitHub) and maintain sessions
- Associate your PRAGMA ballot preferences with your account
- Analyze Site usage (via anonymized analytics) to improve user experience
- Send transactional emails (password reset, notification preferences you opt into)
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including California and the European Economic Area), you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

| Right to Access | Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you |

| Right to Data Portability | Request a machine-readable copy of your data |
| Right to Restrict / Object to Processing | Object to specific types of data processing |
| Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing | We do not sell your personal information. If this changes, we will update this policy and provide a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link |

Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share data with:

Data Retention & Votes
General Data: Account data (email, name, ID) is retained until you request deletion.
Vote Data: We distinguish between your "Account Data" and "Vote Data."
- If you request deletion, we will delete your Account Data and dissociate your identity from any votes you cast.
- On deletion, we retain aggregated, anonymized vote counts (e.g., the specific tally of votes on a paper) indefinitely to preserve the integrity of historical consensus data. Individual votes become anonymous upon deletion.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, hashed credential storage, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but take reasonable precautions to protect your data.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy is subject to change at any time. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
